Project H3

After the release of our album KARMA we immediately started working on our next project. For the next few months with the support of many others the three of us worked diligently on multiple tasks to make this special event a success. December 1st Noraa Ish & Kid Pistol launched a Non Profit project called "Project H3" (Helping House the Homeless).  This was a very successful fundraising event that lasted one night and brought in around $2000.  In addition, we received many donations such as thousands of Hooded sweatshirts, original art, gift certificates etc. to add to the project.  In the end 100% of the proceeds went to "Transition Projects", a highly respected charity in Portland Oregon. This show had many performers such as Noraa Ish & Kid PistolRob Young, Melodee CalderonAlan Logston, DJ Biggz, Brandon Neustel , Greyson Sim and Blake Hicks. We worked night and day for months to put together a quality show. We picked up many Excellent sponsors such as Spun AcademyBreaking InkOregon Screen ImpressionsPaper Tiger Coffee RoastersVISO Energy DrinksVoodoo DoughnutJ.Calderon Apparel and New Seasons Market. I had so much fun that night! I met so many awesome people and made some great friends. I can't wait to do it all again. Check out the promo video that we put together for the project.

Take It All Away

The single from the album "KARMA" by Noraa Ish & Kid Pistol sparked another video called "Take It All Away" I shot this one too with a  home video camera. I also acted in this video along side  Noraa Ish and Kid Pistol.  Our equipment was bad and the weather did not cooperate but it was some of the funnest times in my life. It was crazy too lol! I found myself in the trunk of a car tied up and gagged and guns being pointed at me for the video effects and drama. You will see what I mean when you view the video. This video also was pretty successful and found its way to many online blogs and review sites such as "Northwest Music Scene" and "Oregon Music News"

KARMA

A couple weeks after the Love, Fear and Loathing video release party I got a phone call from Kid Pistol. That phone call changed my life forever!  He said and I quote! "Would you like to do an album with us?" I was speechless!  But I was able to say "Hell Yeah" and immediately the same day we started planning for the album "KARMA".  For a few months I would write piano songs and riffs and send them to Kid Pistol.  He would take the piano tracks and create an amazing beat around it and write a chorus for him to sing. Kid Pistol is absolutely amazing in the way he writes and arranges words, produces the vocals, and well pretty much anything that he does with music is amazing. Once the track was almost complete he would send it to Noraa Ish so he could write his verses. If you have ever listened to Noraa Ish's work then you know each and every song has deep meaning and great flow. On June 8th 2012 the album KARMA was released to the wild and was a huge success!. "KARMA" by Noraa Ish and Kid Pistol sparked an explosion of blogs, online magazines, social media sites, and dozens of music sites all writing about "KARMA". Check out this post on "WWS Magazine" featuring the song "Mayday" from the album.  I could not believe that our music and our picture was sitting next to other big names like Eminem, T.I. and R.Kelly!.  The cover Art for this album was created by Jason Calderon of "j.Calderon Apparel".  Hit one of the links below to check out the full album.  Be sure to come back to read about "Take It All Away" the music video.

First song with Noraa Ish and Kid Pistol

To celebrate the "Love, Fear and Loathing" video we decided to throw a release party at my place. Kid Pistol noticed I had a piano and asked me to play something. I hadn't played much recently and was pretty rusty, but I thought to myself what the hell. I played a song I wrote on the piano about a year before. Kid Pistol sat down listening to me play and just started singing a melody as if he had sung it a thousand times before. I was amazed by this! Just moments after Kid started singing Noraa Ish came in from the backyard, stood behind me and started rapping like the words had been written in his soul long ago.  This was one of the most amazing experiences I had ever witnessed and it caused a deep musical chain reaction between us that continues until this day. You might wonder to yourself what song that might have been? Oh yeah, uh huh,  it was "Going Down" and that was how that song came into existence. Take a listen!!!

Listen to "Going Down"

In the next blog I will talk about the making of our first album together "KARMA"
